About the Hosts
Michelle Sebastian Adams, owner of Sebastian Events LLC, recognized her love for special events in 2009 while in charge of planning her ten-year high school reunion in South Carolina. Shortly after the successful class reunion, she launched Sebastian Events in 2010.
Two fun facts that do not surprise people who first meet Michelle are the fact that she was Senior Class President of her high school and a Cheerleading Captain. People are most shocked when she reveals her story of the eight-year stint she spent in the United States Army as a Reservist from 2003-2011. Upon graduating with a degree in Graphic Communications from Clemson University, she was recruited in 2005 by Leo Burnett, one of the largest advertising agencies in the world, headquartered in the heart of downtown Chicago. Michelle also worked at BBDO Chicago for one and a half years making her time spent in the high-octane advertising industry a total of eleven years.
It was during her time at Leo Burnett that she picked up invaluable business skills such as strategic communication, business management and contract negotiation, as well as building exceptional interpersonal and team collaboration skills. She was also surrounded by the best creative minds of the industry working on big brands like Samsung, McDonald’s, Phillip Morris USA & International, Allstate, Bayer, LG and SC Johnson.
Michelle believes that one’s personal life and work should vacillate fluidly in such a way that most working hours feel like an enjoyable hobby, whereby “the flow” is steadily experienced. Whether it’s her own wedding or a client’s high-visibility wedding, Michelle treats every event with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. Her laser-focus on the details, coupled with the personal attention she gives to her clients and industry partners, is what makes her successful.
Having recently been married on the beautiful Whistling Straits Golf Course at The American Club in Kohler, Wisconsin, Michelle can relate to every bride and groom going through the extraordinary process of planning a luxe, intimate wedding! Now, she is absolutely happy to be living and working in Gainesville, FL with her two adorable cats and where her husband is a Professor of Economics at the University of Florida. Go Gators!
What is Thursday Therapy?
A fun gathering for wedding pros to meet, mingle, share.
In 2007, Michelle Loretta wanted wedding pros to meet in a fun casual way without any strings attached. She began gathering Seattle wedding pros monthly for “Tuesday Toast” with the intention to toast to the industry.
In 2009, Kelly Simants took the idea to Dallas and ran with it. Here, she turned the concept into “Thursday Therapy” where it gained a life of its own. Monthly, wedding pros gather to collaborate and share in a fun, laid-back and approachable environment. There are no membership fees, you can drop in for 20 minutes if that’s all the time you can spare, and you’ll meet some really cool people in a welcoming environment.
Michelle and Kelly are Co-Owners of Sage Wedding Pros, a consultancy dedicated to educating small business owners. The company’s mission is to create sustainable business in the wedding and events industries. Thursday Therapy is a branch of Sage Wedding Pros.
